For pond edges or along streams, chameleon plant (Houttuynia cordata) is ideal. Its leaves make it unmistakable with their ornamental effect. They are wonderfully yellow-red. In addition, the chameleon plant bears white flowers from June to July.
In humus-rich and nutrient-rich soil in a sunny spot, this aquatic plant develops into a beautiful, creeping, rhizomatous specimen of up to 50 cm in height and 50 cm in width.
Growth
A creeping and rhizomatous plant that can grow to a good 30 cm to 50 cm tall and 30 cm to 50 cm wide.
Leaves
Its deciduous foliage makes the chameleon plant an extremely decorative plant!
The leaves have a yellow-red color. They are deciduous.
Flowers
The chameleon plant's flowering season begins in June. It then bears 2 cm to 5 cm large, white flowers. Flowering continues until July.

Temperatures around -16°C are still tolerated by the chameleon plant, making it considered frost-hardy.

A sunny spot is optimal.
