What do sturgeons eat? What is the right sturgeon food?

In nature, sturgeons feed on insects and worms, which they search for on the bottom of the water and then suck up. However, in an artificial pond, sturgeons will not find enough food, so high-quality sturgeon food must be supplemented. Sturgeons have high demands on their diet and need food that they can pick up from the bottom. Special sturgeon food has been developed for this purpose, which quickly sinks to the bottom of the pond, allowing the sturgeon to quickly consume its food. It is not enough to feed sturgeons in an artificial pond with fresh food such as insects or larvae. Sturgeons need a very balanced diet of fish meal, vegetable proteins, and oils. Only in this way can you ensure the health, growth, and well-being of your sturgeons. The amount of sturgeon food should be evenly distributed throughout the day, with the fish being most active in the evening hours. By feeding smaller amounts, you prevent leftover sturgeon food from polluting the water quality of your pond. Sturgeons are carnivores and primarily eat worms, insect larvae, and mollusks. Therefore, a plant-based diet is not the first choice for these fish. Vegetable proteins can only be metabolized insufficiently. A sturgeon will not be satiated in the long run on a predominantly plant-based diet and will starve. The right sturgeon food should contain fish meal or another source of animal proteins as a main ingredient. In many ponds, sturgeons are kept together with other fish, such as koi. If this is the case and sturgeons and koi live together in a pond, the feeding should be adapted to the respective fish species. The koi should first be fed with koi food on the water surface so that they do not eat the sinking sturgeon food when the sturgeons are being fed.
